Security as a set of controlled layers

Security is not a single switch. It is the combined result of account protection, access roles, software updates, network rules, TLS, application settings, backups, monitoring and incident handling. Nettescil describes security through controllable layers so customers can understand what is included and what remains their responsibility.

Accounts and privileged access

Administrative accounts should be limited to the people who need them. Strong credentials, protected sessions, role separation and a record of important changes reduce avoidable exposure. Credentials and tokens should never be placed in public content or support messages.

Application and server security

The operating system, PHP runtime, database, panel, web server and application must be compatible and maintained. Unused packages, old accounts and unnecessary services increase the attack surface. Updates should be planned with a backup and a post-change health check.

Network, TLS and DNS

Firewall rules, open ports, DNS records and certificates must be checked for the actual service. TLS protects communication, but a valid certificate does not confirm that every route or account is correctly configured.

Backups and recovery

A backup is part of security only when it can be found, opened and restored. Files, databases, configuration and required licence settings should have an owner and a recovery test.

Monitoring and incident response

Logs, endpoint checks and provider request IDs help identify the layer involved in an incident. The first response should preserve evidence, limit the scope and use the documented rollback when appropriate.
